John Marks oversees WVMI's projects with state governments, assuring service and quality. He also plays an important role in developing new partnerships.
Before joining WVMI, Mr. Marks was the executive director of CCO Health Care System Inc., a physician-hospital organization in North Carolina, where he developed and implemented the company's strategic plan. Mr. Marks also served as vice president of provider relations and network development for Carelink Health Plan Inc., West Virginia’s first health maintenance organization sponsored by medical providers.
He was director of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Office of Medical Services, where he administered the state's Medicaid program. He held senior level management positions with King's Daughters' Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
He earned a BA in sociology and psychology from Fairmont State College and an MSW from West Virginia University.
