2/23/2012
Nathan Gibson has been appointed as WVMI & Quality Insights’ new Privacy Officer. He is responsible for privacy awareness and training and for implementing and maintaining information privacy policies and procedures.

Gibson will also continue to oversee privacy and security efforts for the organization’s Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (HITREC) grants in three states. He was recently recognized in a national HITREC quarterly publication for overseeing development of the Privacy and Security Toolkit, one of the most widely used resources in the program. The toolkit has about 40 components that Regional Extension Centers can use in helping small physician practices securely implement HIT.

In September Gibson was designated as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems by the the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
