Quality Insights measures project expands
Quality Insights measures project expands
8/31/2011
Quality Insights of Pennsylvania in August received an expansion of its current contract to help Medicare assess the quality of care provided by the nation’s physicians.
Under our Measures and Instrument Development and Support (MIDS) project, we will develop and maintain additional standards of care (known as clinical quality measures) for physicians participating in the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and the Electronic Prescribing Incentive Program (eRX). PQRS and eRX are Medicare-led initiatives whereby physicians agree to publicly report their compliance with quality measures.
The MIDS team was also asked to develop measure specifications for reporting the complement of measures through an electronic health record (EHR). In addition, they will collaborate with the measure owners to oversee the ICD-10 coding conversion for all program measures. They will also monitor all program measures through the National Quality Forum (NQF) consensus standards endorsement process and will provide ongoing training to the measure owners about the program.
