Chief Executive Officer

As Chief Executive Officer of the West Virginia Medical Institute and its subsidiaries, Quality Insights of Pennsylvania and Quality Insights of Delaware, Mr. Wiesendanger is responsible for oversight of a diverse range of large federal and state projects focused on health care quality improvement and assurance. In addition to leading Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) efforts in three states, Mr. Wiesendanger assures that WVMI and Quality Insights meet quality and performance goals in contracts with the Department of Veterans Affairs, state Medicaid agencies, private payers and foundations. Recently WVMI concluded an innovative patient safety project in partnership with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and Wiesendanger played a key role in transitioning the success into the new West Virginia Center for Patient Safety.
Wiesendanger has also been actively involved in the promotion of health information technology. He has overseen a series of HIT-related projects with RTI International, Accenture, and the state of West Virginia and was instrumental to the formation of e-Health coalitions in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware. In July 2006, the Governor of West Virginia appointed Mr. Wiesendanger to the West Virginia Health Information Network’s board of directors.
Wiesendanger oversees a staff of more than 200 employees and independent contractors whose skills include quality improvement, data analysis, IT systems development and project management.
