As Director of Health Services Research, Dr. Faisal Khan is responsible for quality control oversight and scientific support for the Veterans Health Administration – External Peer Review Program. Dr. Khan is a medical epidemiologist with a clinical background. He has ten years of experience in public health, field epidemiology, communicable disease control, public health program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Dr. Khan completed his medical training at the Army Medical College, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and earned a Masters in Public Health from Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia.
Before joining WVMI, Dr. Khan was Director of Program Development, Policy and Planning for the HIV/AIDS Bureau of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Boston, MA. In that position he oversaw key projects, including the introduction of rapid HIV testing statewide and the development of the state’s partner counseling and referral system.
Dr. Khan also served as Director of the HIV/AIDS/STD Program and Needlestick Injury for the Division of Surveillance and Disease Control of the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health, Charleston, WV.
