Catherine Browning, RN, Director of Review Services
Ms. Browning manages the clinical review areas of WVMI & Quality Insights Medicare and Medicaid projects. Her Medicare oversight includes reviewing Hospital Issued Notices of Noncoverage; beneficiary complaints; case review issues, such as the medical necessity of admission; quality of care concerns; and appropriate billing under Medicare's Prospective Payment System (PPS). In a previous position, Ms. Browning assisted with WVMI's External Peer Review contract for the Veterans Health Administration. For that project she abstracted data, helped develop data abstraction instruments, and served as the liaison between the Review staff and the Information Technology staff.
Before joining WVMI, Ms. Browning was a hospital Quality Assurance/Utilization Review Director a DRG Coordinator and a Utilization Review Coordinator. She served as Staff Nurse at a number of locations as well. Ms. Bowles earned her RN degree from the Roanoke Memorial School of Professional Nursing.
