Charles Schade, M.D., M.P.H., Director of Scientific Support

Charles Schade, M.D., M.P.H.Dr. Charles Schade provides medical and epidemiologic support for the design, analysis and dissemination of results of WVMI's contracts, projects and studies.

Dr. Schade designs quality studies and data collection procedures, guides data collection and analysis, and helps interpret findings for staff, health professionals and customers. He is responsible for using sound methods to obtain credible results that lead to appropriate health decisions. His recent work includes the design of surveys and clinical studies involving patients eligible for Medicare and Medicaid.

In previous positions, he has been a public health administrator, a preventive medicine clinician, an association executive and a federal disease control epidemiologist. His peer reviewed publications and presentations cover topics such as biomedical engineering, communicable disease control, substance abuse epidemiology and health care quality improvement.

After earning a BA in mathematics and electrical engineering from Rice University, he obtained a medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine and a master's degree in public health from the University of Texas. He completed a residency in public health and preventive medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University.

 

Epidemiologist Delivers Presentations

Dr. Schade has delivered presentations at the CDC's Division of Diabetes Translation Conference, at the Annual Cochran Colloquia, and at the Fifth International Conference on the Scientific Basis of Health Services.
