Mark K. Stephens, MD, Principal Clinical Coordinator

Mark K. Stephens, MDMark K. Stephens, MD, serves as the Principal Clinical Coordinator for WVMI's Medicare quality improvement organization (QIO) contract in West Virginia. In this position, he is responsible for all aspects of the Health Care Quality Improvement Program, which initiates improvement projects with hospitals, home health agencies, nursing homes, health plans and physicians.

Dr. Stephens is also a primary care physician with Healthplus Professionals, Inc., of Charleston, West Virginia. Since 1995 he has been that organization’s Medical Director. He is board certified in internal medicine with a sub-specialty in addictionology. Dr. Stephens earned his MD from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.

Dr. Stephens coauthored "Using Statewide Audit and Feedback to Improve Hospital Care in West Virginia" which was published in the Joint Commission Journal on Quality and Safety.
