Edward R. Sobel, DO, Director, Health Care Quality Improvement Program
Dr. Sobel began his work with Quality Insights of Delaware as a physician reviewer with its predecessor, the Delaware Peer Review Organization in 1986 and was named the Director of the Health Care Quality Improvement Program for Quality Insights of Delaware, the QIO for the State of Delaware, in 1995.
Dr. Sobel is a graduate of Albright College and completed his medical education at the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. He did his internship at Parkview Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
In addition to his work for Quality Insights, Dr. Sobel has been practicing family medicine since 1974 and is the senior managing partner and president of Family Practice Associates, PA, a single-specialty private family-medicine group in Wilmington, DE.
In 1998, Dr. Sobel was named the Preceptor of the Year by the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Christiana Care Health Systems. In 2001, the Delaware Academy of Family Practice named him the Family Physician of the Year for Delaware.
In addition, he has been involved in numerous quality improvement activities in the Wilmington area. Among his activities, he serves on the Board of Directors of Christiana Care Corporation and Health Services and the Delaware Stroke Initiative.
