WVMI, with assistance from Quality Insights of Pennsylvania, is coordinating the two-year effort to reduce the national rate of avoidable hospitalizations.
In January, WVMI facilitated a launch event at CMS Headquarters in Baltimore, where approximately 350 home health stakeholders from across the country attended to show their support for the campaign and their commitment to quality
In the first week after launch, 4,200 home health professionals representing 3,500 agencies registered to participate in the campaign. Collectively, they downloaded 4,000 copies of WVMI’s first educational offering, “Fundamentals of Reducing Acute Care Hospitalization,” according to project director Shanen Wright.
“We are continually impressed by the home health community’s enthusiasm for quality,” Wright said. “The response to the opening of campaign registration and the first educational offering has been phenomenal.”
Over the next two years, WVMI will produce a series of educational offerings for the agencies and provide data for benchmarking and improvement.
