QIO Leaders Deliver Guest Lecture at Wharton School
Charleston, WV - WVMI and Quality Insights executives John C. Wiesendanger and Daniel P. Jones spoke to students March 21 in the MBA program in health care management at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.At the invitation of the international information technology company Computer Sciences Corp, also known as CSC, the two spoke about the development of regional health information organizations (RHIO). They also touched on RHIOs’ potential quality improvement applications and the implications for pay for performance. Wiesendanger serves as the Chief Executive Officer of WVMI and Quality Insights, while Jones is the Chief Operating Officer of Quality Insights of Pennsylvania.
As guest lecturers for the graduate course in E-Health: Business Models and Impact, they shared their experiences in developing e-health initiatives in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The course is designed to help students evaluate how established players are incorporating new technologies that are changing the economics of health care.
The health care management program is closely associated with the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, which was founded in 1967 to encourage research and education in health services financing. The Wharton School, which was established in 1881 as the world’s first collegiate business school, is renowned for its academic strengths across every major discipline and at every level of business.
