Federal Register mentions Quality Insights project
Charleston, WV - Quality Insights of Pennsylvania, an affiliate of the West Virginia Medical Institute, was mentioned in July in the Federal Register, a daily publication of the federal government containing public notices of government agencies.
Quality Insights was mentioned in federal regulation notice CMS-1385-P. The notice concerns proposed revisions to payment policies under the Physician Fee Schedule for 2008.
According to the notice, CMS proposes to include some of the measures Quality Insights is developing in the 2008 Physicians Quality Reporting Initiative. The notice lists 11 non-physician measures under development, including a universal weight screening and follow-up and a universal hypertension screening and follow-up. Quality Insights is also developing two structural measures that have to do with the adoption of health information technology. The notice says one or both may also be included in PQRI.
CMS last fall awarded a contact to Quality Insights to develop measure sets for physicians and nonphysicians. The project, which is called the Development of Physician Office Clinical Quality Measurements, is classified as a special study under the Pennsylvania Quality Improvement Organization contract.
